Default Doing my own work need to know what to get

I am going to change the oil and filter in my A6 quattro 98, 2.8L. I know I need Mobil 1 fully synthetic, but how much and what is the best filter. What air filter should I get?

Thanks Guys

Synthetic is an option but you don't have to. I just use regular5w-30 in my 2001 Audi A6 2.8 Q. The A6model has no oil problems so it's up to you if you want to use regular orsynthetic. If you can find 0w-30 use it, if not just use 5w-30, it works great. I have over 100,000 on mine now and still running strong. I'm not too picky about filter either...(knock onwood)...Mine has a carquest filter on it now. Also, check out my new post. I just finished exhaust on my Audi. It came out way better than I wanted or expected. It can hold 6 quarts. Basically, pour in 5 andthen top off untilthe oil level isrightbefore the top tip attop ofthe orange tip on the dipstick. Whenthe level reaches approx. the top of the crisscross lines..call it good.

Hope this helps!

Nick

Oil filter -- Black ones are best

Mann is tops. I have seen a white one get blown apart - was told that it was because the Audi oil pressure is high but I don't believe it is higher than most other cars. I think the check valve in the filter is a must, but never tought about it cause I always use Mann filters.

As for oil --I agree any good brand name oil is OK . I am currently using castorol 10-30 but usually switch to 10-40 in the summer.
