I have a 1999 A6 Avant with around 165K miles that recently developed a vibration at idle that smooths out a bit at higher rpm. This all started after a water pump change so I had my mechanic go back through and double check the work to confirm everything was replaced properly. We also did a compression check and all cylinders were around 130. During all this I did notice some blood red fluid around one of the engine mounts and although my mechanic was skeptical about that being the problem (he has around a couple hundred years of experience with Audi/VW) I am considering replacing both mounts (and maybe the two trans mounts as well). I'm just looking to see if anyone else has experienced this issue or if I should be looking elsewhere (other than mounts) for the solution.
