EPC light went on

EPC light went on
My 2000 A6 2.7 T has nuespeed chip with no other upgrades like plug,DV,boot,ect. While driving it pretty hard I heard a pop then a hissing noise. That's when the EPC and check engine light went on. The car shut down, but not completley. The car would drive then stop, kind of like bucking.What do you think it could be?
