Default Error codes p1411 & 1423

every cold start i would usually hear the secondary air pump make its whine. i did not heard it this morning and i decided to scan for codes. no MIL YET but 2 fault codes were found. (great way to end the year)

p1411-Secondary Air Injection System; Bank 2: Insufficient Flow
P1423-Secondary Air Injection System; Bank 1: Insufficient Flow

17831/P1423/005155 - Ross-Tech Wiki

ross tech says to check for the fuse but i could not find the fuse in the driver side's department. anyone know where it is???

also is it bad to drive the car like this? i understand the car will not pass emissions but in the mean time is it bad? will it damage the engine?

to my understanding it only works for 1 min on cold starts sending extra oxygen to the cats.

i also know the manual 2.7t did not have this pump so would it be bad if my pump is not working and i drove it as is?

my car is a 2002 2.7t just hit 75k

i want to know where the pump's fuse is located so i can check. it does not start at all so i dont think the code is being thrown because of a vacuum leak.

Not bad to run without the SAI pump. It is for emissions only and will not affect your engine or performance.

Should only be one fuse because there is only one pump. Not sure which one it is though

Follow the tech notes. My SAI was making a high pitch whine at 50k. I took it to the dealer and had the pump and both combi valves replaced under CPO. (Would have been $700 - 1000? or something without the warranty). Judging by the symptoms you've suggested that could be the issue. Oh, I did throw the codes for one side a few months later when a piece of plastic tubing broke.

(Note, I'm a shade tree mechanic at best.)

Fuse is in the electronics box located in the back right corner as you look at the front of the car. I want to say it's like 20 or 30amp fuse located next to relays.

so its inside the ECU's box?

new things i have noticed:
the noise is still present but just not as loud as it used to be. also the sawblade noise is completely gone. the pump used to run for about a min. now it runs for half the time.

ive read this failure of this pump can cause MAF and catalytic related problems? is that true? will it damage my cats?

also if you know where i could get this software to void the pump that would be greatly appreciated!
thanks for the help! merry Christmas & a Happy new year!

Yes, it's in the ECU box. I have no idea what problems may arise if you don't fix it. There is so vagcom software for like $350? I have no idea if that would work.
