Default Fan Problems

Alright, I have a 2001 Audi A6 2.7T and I have been having problems with overheating. I haven't been to worried about it lately as it has been cold here in Italy. I have already replaced the fan clutch, aux fan switch, and have done a complete timing belt kit change. I have a brand new radiator for the audi, but I don't think that is the problem. From what I have seen the fan on the passenger side, radiator side is not kicking on, that is why I replaced the fan switch. That did not work so I have not tried anything else. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention that I looked at the fuse panel under the steering wheel, but did not find anything blown. There was one fuze that I could not get to without taking apart some stuff. I will try that if you guys think it could be another fuze. I was wondering if it could be the auxiliary fan control unit or if it is the fan itself. Also, is there anyway of testing the fan. Now, the other fan, auxiliary fan assembly sitting on the driver side in front of the A/C condensor. That fan is making an obnoxious whining noise whenever it kicks it. I understand that I will probably have to replace that. If so, where is the best place to purchase these fans? Thanks in advance guys, oh yeah I am stationed in Aviano, Italy so I need to order these parts soon, as it takes awhile to get over here.

Testing the fan is fairly easy - disconnect the electrical connector and run one side to ground and the other to 12v. DIrection is unimportant for the test. Either it runs or it doesn't.

From there, you have to follow the wiring diagram and make sure 12v is getting through to the fan switch and then from the fan switch to the fan itself and then trace the ground circuit for the fan.

Good luck,

Bob

I usually get used and new Audi parts from Force Five in Concord NH and sometimes from Shokan in West Shokan NY but I don't know if they ship overseas.
