front mount vs side mounts

Okay Summer is here and my turbos need to stay cool for some good track times ... of course option 1 is buy the side mount intercoolers from awe which look awesome ive actually seen one getting cnc-ed in thier machine shop...

next option ... bend some of my own 2.5' pipe( i think thats the right size??) and get it ceramic coated outside and then make a rack and buy a front mount ...

I would def need to modify the bumper i am pretty sure??

what size front mount??

is front mount better then side ... i'm assuming size is better and I kinda like them hidden

suggestions??

i dont think it would take extreme modification ... the only question i have is what size front mount intercooler and will i have to replace the bumper or just cut it

I would not modify your front end for a front mount. You will sacrifice alot of safety to make it fit. I have not heard of a successful front mount on an A6. I have seen one on an S4 when I was with NGPand you have to do some major work....like cutting the core support and radiator support, plus cutting away the inside of the bumper. I would go with AWE Tuning side mounts....minimum cutting to make them fit and they come with new larger air directors which will utilize the entire intercooler.

OOOO
