Default Front outer C/V Boot

So Saturday I tackled the job of changing the torn boot on my car. what a b*^%h... that is a job I will likely take to the shop if needed again. First off the damn control arms didn't want to come out of the pinch, so after an hour or so of "persuading" it finally came loose. Then my pos puller didn't want to work to remove the c/v, so I ended up using the bolt trick, which ALMOST did the trick. So I ended up fidling with the puller until it finally worked. Now putting the joint back on was the trickiest part. I had to put it on at an angle because I didn't have any room to go straight on. What a pain, all in all it took about 3.5 hrs. , but I was helping my brother put his new headlights on his b5.

We usually just remove the lower control arms instead, they're much easier to remove if you have stubborn pinch bolt.

Does this allow more room to access the joint? Can you swing the hub/brake further out of the way by removing the bottom?
