I got some replacement struts for my front end on my 99 a6, does any one have a step by step guide on how to replace them any pictures would be great

This will help ya, or at least give you an idea how the strut comes off:

You'll probably need to rent a coil spring compressing tool from Auto Zone or the like. Also, if that's the way of replacing them, then you might also need to have access to a vise or some way to secure the struts in order to remove the bolts/nuts - whatever is that fastens it to the upper mounting bracket in a C5.

 

Interesting video, especially since he ran into a frozen pinch bolt. I'll have to try his technique next time I have to do this job.

But, yes, once the struts are out, take them to a shop and have the springs and mounts swapped over. Or, borrow a high quality strut tool and DIY.
