Fuel Filter replacement

Does anyone know where to find a write-up for changing the fuel filter on our cars? I have looked and came up with not much... Thanks!

RE: Fuel Filter replacement

I was doing some routine maintence this past weekend...fuel filter, plugs,o2 sensor and noticed I had to swap outboth front c/v boots cause they were split. I tried myself but had some problems in doing so. SoI had to take it to an independant import shop to complete the job for me. He recommended replacing both front axles (complete c/v set-up) It was cheaper this way in the long run. He did make sense out of this whole ordeal. And of course, it needed brakes all around too. My bill was $996.00. All OEM parts.

Does this sound fair to you???

My point in all this is after dropping a$$G on this stuff, that I probably could have done myself, I thought I'll just take my chances of being without a car for a month and and try replacing this damn fuel filter myself using the link above. Dude, piece of cake..

Good Luck

RE: Fuel Filter replacement

I changed my fuel filter myself. I have a 2000 2.7. The hardest part was getting that band around the filter to loosen up. It looks like if it's been done before and they didn't do it right, the bolt is easy to strip. There is not a real good way to hold the nut on the back to turn it. I got it loose enough to work the filter out. Get plenty of rags or newspaper because you will have a lot of spillage. The gas seems to be under a lot of pressure and it will go everywhere when youtake the lines off. Also, the filter and the lines have four little rings around the connections. Keep those just in case the new filter doesn't come with them. You shouldn't have any problems. Good luck.
