Fuel Filter - When to replace

Hi Folks,

The answer to this question is probably in the owner's manual, which I don't have. When should the fuel filter be changed? Bear in mind, I'm currently in a hot dusty country and I don't think it has ever been changed. Current mileage, 108k. I can't see any harm in replacing it, but then at the same time, if it ain't broke (and it doesn't seem to be listed as a service part), don't fix it....

Thanks in advance.

RE: Fuel Filter - When to replace

Your probably way overdue for one, also I dont think its a "scheduled" maintenance item, meaning ...no one really knows, depends on what type of gas u use and what not but id say every 30-50k miles but thats just me.

RE: Fuel Filter - When to replace

I just checked my maintenance manual and it does not address it. It calls for oil changes every 10k, dust/pollen filter every 20k, and plugs and air filter every 40k. It also states that you should change your brake fluid every 2 years regardless of mileage. And timing belt at 105k.

You may want to call your local dealer and post the answer back here for the rest of us.

For what it's worth, I'm at 101k and changed the plugs at 40k - they're still good based on pulling one and inspecting. I run a K&N which I wash/re-oil every 40k, and just did the cabin filter at 99k for probably the second time since the dealer did it. I had the brake fluid changed around 95k for the first time.

Oil is changed religiously with Mobil1when indicated or 8-10k whichever comes first.
