Default Fuse 392. Need help.

Hello!

I recently purchased an 1999 Audi A6 2.8L Quattro from an individual in my area. The car is in REALLY good condition. Mechanically and electronically, almost everything in the car works. I upgraded from a 1991 Legend non-leather model that I used as a daily driver for years. It had tons of electrical and mechanical problems, so you can understand my excitement to upgrade to a vehicle that is about 95% fully functional. That said, there are a couple of issues I'm having with the car. The sunroof doesn't work (I don't even hear the motor turn), and the auxiliary fan that is supposed to blow into the radiator when the AC is on doesn't turn. Because of this, the car is prone to overheat after running with the AC on for too long. I was aware of both issues at the time of purchase, figuring that they couldn't be too difficult of fixes.

Today, I found a fuse lying underneath the seat of the car. It is a large, 12 volt fuse with the label "392" on the top of it. I'm trying to figure out A) where it came from (physical location in the car), and B) what it is for? I can't seem to find anything online after extensive googling.

Is there anyone here that can help me with this?

Thank you, and I look forward to posting more on the Audi forums!

off the top of my head I cant tell you what the fuse controls but it is located under the right side of the steering columm if you remove the trim piece under the steering columm you will see a group of fuses and relays up underneath on the right side of the columm. your manual should give location and function of these items.

I actually used to have a 2000 A6, but my fuse box was located in a different location than the previous reply. Once you open the driver's door, there was a case right next to it, which is to say it is all the way to the left of the steering wheel on the side. You can open and it has all the fuses inside.

Again I don't know which one each is for, but you manual should have a drawing of all of them.

Also as I recall the same fuse that controls the sunroof also controls the windows, interior lights, etc.. so I doubt the missing fuse is for the sunroof, but give it a try.
