Labor should be same as a clutch job. The engine doesnt have to come out, just the trans. Also replace the clutch and pressure plate while the trans as out. Along with the throwout bearing. I would definatly just go with a junkyard or rebuilt tranny. If its rebuilt they will need your old trans as a core. Just from you description, its probably not worth trying to fix the old one.
