GIAC ECU in 2004 A6 S-Line
Hi all,
I know very little to nothing (pretty much nothing) when it comes to performance mods and I have some questions about the GIAC ECU (part number 4Z7907551AA) for the '04 A6 S-Line.
a) ECU is claimed to add 70-80hp and 85ft-lb of torque. Is that just with the 102 Octane program or with the 91 Octane program as well?
b) Some features of the ECU are Valet and Kill....what do those mean?
c) I assume this will void my extended warrenty, correct?
and
d) If I do get this ECU, should I also invest in some other mods to strengthen the engine? Upgraded turbos, etc...I would not want to risk reducing the life of the vehicle by loading the GIAC ECU.
Thanks for any answers you guys can give me

Another question (sorry)....80HP is quite a bit, and I do have a TIP transmission and have heard people say that the TIP does not hold together, long term, when major power boosts are added. Are there any other mods, aside from a chip, that will provide some safe power gains? The S-Line already does 0-60 in 6.4ish and if there are any reliable, safe mods that will bring me to 60 in under 6 seconds I would love to hear about them too.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

I've had a basic GIAC for 4 years and about 70k miles. It supposedly takes the 250hp 2.7T to 318. Your S-line should be slightly tweaked to 265hp, but I understand the chip will still only bring it to 318. In other words, same max boost either way. Yes, if you hammer it you can break all sorts of suspension and drivetrain parts. My clutch slipped at an (alleged) 150 mph and I replaced both it and the flywheel.
The valet switch limits power so the parking boy can't take it joyriding at high speed. I believe the kill switch prevents the vehicle from being driven more than a short distance before dying -- basically anti-theft. I have neither (KISS).
If you chip, consider heavy duty diverter valves and throttle body boot. See signature but many manufacturers available. Do search.

I had my 2000 a6 2.7t chipped by MTM very impressive. I have put 50,000 miles on it since with no problems. car will smoke my stock 2004 sline . There is a huge difference in throtle response and the top end is endless very happy with MTM.
