RE: GOT new gauge cluster. need new miles
If the mileage is more than 0 miles on it somebody already burned in the mileage, which means it isn't a new cluster. I would return it to whom you bought it from. I think the only way you can input a new mileage reading is you have to have a code from germany that only audi techs obtain, i could be full of crap though.

Yeah the only legal way to get them re-set is if a tech burns in the wrong mileage on accident and is usually supplied by the dealer to the company re-programming them. If everyone was able to just re-program their clusters there would be all kinds of people trying to sell you a car that has 35k on it when really has 140k, know what i mean.

You can only input mileage via VAG COM when the unit is NEW or REMANUFACTURED. In addition, you have to do it almost immediately, or it will lock, and no adjustments may be made. I think Vaudi is right and it is 60 miles.
Anyway,I suggest you get a "new" cluster from the dealer (about $750 including core charge) and return the old cluster to the dealer to get your core charge back (I think you get $350 or $400back, I cannot remember). Follow the tech article posted on AudiWorld for the steps you need to follow. Good luck!
