HAVE FEW QUESTIONS: NEW OWNER 2000 A6 2.7T
This is my frist audi i have owned and so far i love it. I have read trough most of the forum topics and i have found alot of information to help me maintain my vehicle. I have a few questions thought....how do i know when something is wrong with my turbo's? Will i notice a difference if the turbos are going out if they are lacking power??? what are some of the things i should look for? My car has 70k miles on it...what would be some things i should inspect and replace?? Also at higher speeds when I break hard my car starts shaking really bad i believe the rotors need to be shaved thats why i thought about replacing my rotors to slotted rotors for better breaking....Thanks any help would be appreciated...

RE: HAVE FEW QUESTIONS: NEW OWNER 2000 A6 2.7T
Welcome -- a great car you will enjoy owning.
As background reading, you may want to follow the link in my signature to my registry page. There you'll find some links to good references. Stoney's Links is THE end all-be all of A6 resources. Search that list whenever you have a question and you'll only rarely not find good answers. You'll also find a link to the official Audi maintenance schedule.
As others have said, you'll know it if your turbos go bad -- very unhappy sound. In the meantime, be sure to follow the rules of good turbo ownership: synthetic oil and gentle warm up and cool down. No need to sit there idling, just keep the rpm below 3K until the oil temp gets above 175 and drive the last few miles before you get home the same. BEST insurance against running into problems.
If you ever notice a loss of power, check your hoses -- there are a few places they can crack, causing a loss of boost. Throttle body boot (TBB) and F hose are the two major culprits -- see Stoney's for discussion of this.
As for the brakes, do a search on "warped rotors" against Stoney's Links -- great discussion can be found there to explain what you're running into. Go slotted for looks -- little gain in performance. Again, Stoney's has discussion of this.
Happy reading!
