Headlight cleaning
I think that article is great. The only thing different I do is I constantly have water pouring on the lens from my hosewhile I sand. I believethe constant water flow keeps the debris off the lens which will prevent gouging and deep scrapes.
OOOO
OOOO
I cleaned my headlights using this technique today.
I bought a pack of 600, 1200, and 2000 grit wet sandpaper,
a buff/ polish kit for hard to reach places
Meguire's Clear plastic cleaner 17, and
Meguiar's Clear plastic polish 10
Total parts cost was $71
I'm sure I could have saved money somewhere.
I wish I would have taken a before and after picture.
My lenses were way worse than those pictured in the article.
Because this was my first time doing anything even remotely similar to this, it was a learning experience.
Once I finished with the polish, which was the final step, the lens was absolutely, perfectly clear.
The only thing is I should have spent a little more time with the 600 grit because after I was fininshed, I could see a few pits that did not come out.
I only used 1 piece of each grit sandpaper.
This method really works.
