Default headlight upgrade question

Hey this may have been asked already but I'm not a forum junky so I'm going to ask.

I have a 2008 a6 and I'm wondering if it is possible to upgrade to the 2012 led headlights.

Also I'm pondering upgrading my engine from the 3.2 to 4.2 if possible, bought the car used and do not have a warranty currently. If it is possible to upgrade could you tell me the parts I need to do that, thankyou for your time and help with this, thankyou.

You are better of selling the car and buying a 4.2. You will have no end of grief doing the swap. It will be expensive to get the engine and misc parts including a new ECU and you may need a different tranny to handle the power. And when your car is scanned for emissions it may come up with some funky codes because the engine will not match the database for the car. And finally, it is probably cheaper to trade for a 4.2.

The 2012 headlights will not fit the C6 body. If they did the cost for the parts would be in the thousands.

You can do anything you want. It won't be cheap. Cheaper thing would be to buy a 4.2 like stated earlier.

Also the headlight aren't a exact fit. But look on eBay you might be able to find led light headlight s for the c6

Default 2012 A6 headlight upgrade

Could this be done within a model year? We're thinking about buying a 2012 A6 2.0 Premium with Halogen and would want to change to the LED/xenon.
Can this be done? Are parts out there?

Probably but if I had to guess the parts will run you at least $2500. Here are my guesses at costs and parts. You will need two headlights ($1,600), two ignitor ballasts ($200), two HID bulbs (about $100) and assuming these are adaptive headlights you will also need two level sensors ($200) and probably some wiring harnesses. If you do not have a VAG-COM you will need one to reprogram the car ($300). Plus all of the labor for installation, and because it is a new car you will have to figure a lot out for yourself. I am not sure what Audi charges for this option but it may be worth the cost.
