my 04 a6 2.7t 45k is making a ratteling sound every time i hit a pot hole or little crack in the cement. it sounds like something is loose i dont know what it is? doesnt rattle when i drive just when i hit little bumps. any idea what it could be ?????

Hmm,
45k is a kind of low mileage to have front-end problems - but one never knows - ehh? What do you have in your glove box? If you could record the "ratteling sound" - post it here! |
don't sound like exactly the same symptoms I had, but at 48k my motor mounts were shot. I had a clunk under accelleration from a stop and it was mostly "bump" independent.
I had the tire guys take a look at the suspension the last time I rotated before I narrowed it down to the mounts. good luck :thu: |
lol no the glove box is empty
its probably the motor mounts ? maybe its loose |
it doesnt make any noise when im going fast over bumps only
when i go like under 25mph it makes the ratteling sound ? |
funny I almost replied to this thread again....now I got a little knock in the steering when turning at low speeds, probably from having it up and down with a floor jack when I was replacing the motor mounts... :D
yeh hey beast, if it IS your motor mounts, they won't appear loose, they are filled with hydraulic fluid, you may notice some damp spots on the plastic underbelly of the car, either side of the motor. |
04 a6 vs 05 a6
which would u take a 2004 a6 quattro 2.7t s-line with 52k on it and in exellent condition or a 2005 a6 3.2 quattro with 66k on it.... which do u think is a better car .... my stupid brother thinks we should trade the 04 for the 05 and i dont think its worth it wat do u think ??

Same, only on occasion.
Hey, I know this thread is old, but did you find out anything about the noise? Mine only does it occasionally - low speed, hit a bump and I hear a cartoon-like "SPROING" from the front. I know my engine mounts are asking for replacement soon and my front end needs new bushings. I'm guessing it's one of those. I bought the expensive golf ball paint and ruled that out. :D Just wondering.
Thanks if your still posting. |
