Help all Audi geniuses....electrical issue
 

I have an 2001 Audi a6 2.8 Quattro and my problem started last night. When you step on the brake the drivers side turn signal becomes lit and will not turn off until u let off the brake. Also when u turn on the hazards it blinks just the drivers side front and back. When ur driving the brake lights and turn signals work fine it's just the drivers signal coming on when u press the brake. Has anyone had this happen or have any idea what my issue is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Water ingress in footwell perhaps?
 

Is the drain under your battery clear - and no water buildup there? I have read alot about this and the water ends up in the car in the footwells causing havoc with the electrics....

check your hazards switch. It might be bad.

checked the hazard switch and even with no hazard switch in the car still has the same symptoms. another thing that it is doing is when you hit the brake it chimes and it pops up saying that i have a brake light out on the dash computer. any other suggestions checked under the battery and there is no water built up

does sound familiar...
 

...if it helps, I have heard of this before - I read it in one of the forums, not sure which one though..., I think someone either was replacing one of the rear bulbs or the number plate bulb and they caused a problem like you describe, I think I found it when I was searching for "led" lights problems as I was thinking of fitting "led" bulbs at one time. Sorry it doesn't help much but if you search you may find something.

I had some wierd, intermitant, light problems and they turned out to be caused by water getting into the tailight housings, the seam between the red,clear, and orange lenses had opened up enough to allow water in, it was not filling up the housing but there would be some water in there after a rain.I found when I first started driving the car it would be fine but after a few turns, starts, and stops I would start having brake light and running lightproblems, I cleaned everything out well and sealed to seam with glue and have not had any problems since.

I did have problems with a low quality bulb once giving intermittant brake light failure messages, a better quality bulb fixed that.

I have an audi a4 2001 and I have a problem with car goes up to 100 and then proceeding to give but more slowly walk laps can give a person here what the response may be, I checked and the computer butcould not find anything to know who is the problem.Thanks

Well still have no idea now the drivers side running lights will no longer work at all front or back...the turn signal coming on while braking is no longer an issue unless it just finally shorted out. The turn signals work fine with no headlights on but as soon as you turn the headlights on the passenger running lights work but the drivers doesnt work at all.
