Default Help Me Please!

I know that a lot of people have asked this question, but is somthing that concerns me a lot and i want to be sure about things before i make a large investment. According to consumer reports, the a6 is not rated well, and i have read in many places that the audi's are not reliable cars... i am lookin at this one...please should i get this car or not...is it going to be reliable????

Wow that is a good price and the fact that it is Audi certified, I would buy it. And then I would change the timing belt because 60K is just about right to go breaking one. Where is that at? Maybe I will buy it :-P

(Not really on the me buying it part)

Hmm, the electrical system thing concerns me a little, I would say ask them about it. It might be something more routine, or just something got wore out. Mine had a few of those, the dealer showed me the records of service and my car had sunroof motor replacement and o2 sensor replacement.

And the fact that it was registered as a commercial vehicle is odd. Ask the dealer about that. It sounds like it was used in a business that could be good or bad. No responsibility means people drive them hard, but businesses maintain their cars so they last and have good resale.

I've been working in auto retail/export business for a couple of years now and I can tell you only one thing: the reason I own an Audi is not the reliability or the resale value. So if that maybe an issue for you once you've bought the car, I'd say think twice. HOWEVER, Audi is hands down the best handling and performing vehicle in the price range !!! and very possibly the best all around !!! 2.7T is a narcotic of a car - the speed is just ridiculous, I go from 60 to 100 in mere seconds. You need a lot of self-control to drive this car; otherwise, your license is in jeopardy. Snow and ice are never an issue, my car has ESP, but handles better on slippery roads with it turned off (I do use some Rally driving techniques in the snow though - I was born and learned to drive in the North West Russia).

Now, about this one, seems very cheap for an Audi Certified - double check if the cert is an Audi Extended Warranty or an aftermarket program. From my experience, aftermarket warranty companies have a hard time paying for your repairs, some just don't pay no matter what, reffering to various loopholes in the agreement. Also, it is true that you should be thinking that the timing belt will need to be changed soon (dealer should not charge you more than $700 for it, but many people do it themselves and it ends up costing one third of that). Audi recommends 75,000 miles, but bottom line is, you don't want it to break - too many things (expensive things) could happen if it does, so check it out before you commit on this car . Another thing, seems llike the packaging on the car is a bit 'thin' - no heated seats, I noticed - for some reason, these 2.7T's wo cold weather package cost less. I bought mine at a dealer auction, 2001 2.7T (actually, no heated seats too - wish I found one with them) with 61Kmiles for $13,600, plus about 800 in fees and stuff, but no Audi Cert. The point I'm trying to get across is that you could find a way to go to a dealer auction in Pennsylvania and buy a 2003 2.7T with factory warranty left over for around 23 grand - which in retrospect of my purchase, seems like a far better investment than the one you're about to make, or the one I made for that matter. I'm hoping my car lasts a year without major repairs so I can trade it for an '03 or '04 2.7T S-line model - with financing it doesn't make sense to get rid of it right away. As far as the service history in CarFax, I would definitely try to get the records and see the specifics - watch out for recurring problems, especialy with electrical systems and Turbos. Even if your dealer doesn't have them, you can call Audi of USA and request history on all the warranty repairs done to the vehicle. This way you'll have a better understanding of the car you'll be dealing with for the next few years.

I sure hope you get a great ride, man! Once you get an Audi, the only way you'll switch to another car is if you get really unlucky with the repairs - trust me, me and my best friend have been driving Audis for 3 years now, my father owned one when I was a kid in Russia and I've had about 7 of them as dealer demos over the past couple of years. But do take care of it, pay more attention to its well-being than you would to a Honda - these cars demand to be pampered. Best of luck! Hope my automotive rendition of War and Peace helped at least a bit in your quest...

I have an 00 2.7T and I love it. The handling is first rate and power of the car is awesome.

I have minor modifications so far....GIAC Chip and K&N Air Filter. The chip alone added 60Hp. I am adding a pair of blow off diverter valves and a exhaust system in the spring.

If you buy the car, definitely replace the timing belt. I didn't and mine broke at 65,000 while I was on Interstate 95 doing 75 MPH.

Needless to say I had to replace that along with a new head! Thank GOD for the warranty!

You got lucky with it only being the head. You could have had more damage to the engine.
