Help needed with Fuel economy on 2000 A6 2.8 Quattro
Hi Everybody,
Since this is my first Audi I don't know much about this car and I am a newbie in this forum. I've got a 2000 A6 2.8 liter Quattro. I need some help with fuel efficiency issue. The EPA estimated MPG is 17MPG city and 24MPG freeway. But mine is getting 16MPG combined. The mechanical condition is overall fine. It's got 80,000 milles. Is there anything I can do with it? Thanks in advance.

What percentage would you say that you drive around city streets compared to highway driving? Anyways, 16 mpg is low but not unreasonable. EPA estimates were overly optimistic anyways. If you do some routine tuneup things, i.e. oil change, air filter change, fuel filter change, sparkplugs, plug wires, and etc, it should come up. Also 80,000 miles is a good point for a major tuneup, including timing belt, water pump, tranny filter and fluid and etc.

My 2000 2.8l Avant with 135k gets around 19/20mpg combined with 80% hwy (70mph) and 20% city with 0 top and go. The 2.8l just doesn't get great milage, but you get the most reliable engine in return.
