2. About 40,000 miles when I bought it
3. The car has roughly 55,000 miles on it now
4.Oil Changes have been my only expense till yesterday. $600 for new belts and tensioner.

1998 a6 2.8
124000 when i bought it
130000 now
Oil changes, Changed the oil pan( i hit something and cracked it, cost 200$ to change myself and help from a mechanic friend), serpentine belt $40, front brake lines $70.
so far it has been just regular maintanence that would apply to any high mileage vehicle, nothing i can really blame audi for yet* lol, The control arms are startinbg to seem just a hair loose, which is a notorious audi problem.

1. 2003 A6 2.7T MT6
2. 34,600 in March 2004
3. 85,200 now
4/5. About $800 as follows, not including oil/filters and tires and excluding "speed work"...
[ul][*]brake switch - warranty[*]rear transmission seal - warranty[*]leaking coolant externallyfrom head gasket on rear of engine - fixed with bottle ofradiator sealant $7[*]GIAC chip, Bailey diverters, Samco TBB $1000 (not any fault of Audi - my need for speed)[*]Headlight washer tubing $200 (and right one is leaking again)[*]Alternator $600[/ul]
I am facing a timing chain and water pump change next summer (estd 95,000 miles)for $900-1000.
Keep in mind I put +50k miles on the car in less than two years, mostly highway driving. But I am looking at about $1000/yr in repairs in addition to maintenance. Of course, after I get by the timing belt I may be good until 200k miles or I may have something significant fail and have to pony up a couple thousand or more bucks and live with a po'd wife.
I think one of the oil tycoons said "if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it". Get something cheaper to run and less fun to ride for a few years, make some money, then improve your ride. I was in my 50s before I decided I could afford a luxury sport touring car, and even then bought it used.

If you are scared already, why even venture. Audi's are for adventurous guys who love driving and enjoy the winding roads, the rest get a cosy pillow and buy Japanese.
