Important Question Need Answered In 2 Days
 

I was in an accident and will need to be replacing both front fenders. I have a 2000 2.7t. I have aftermarket 18's on it right now that stick out just a touch.

My questions is this will the wider 4.2 V8 fenders fit my car without any modification????

Because they look a lot sexier and if they would fit perfectly it would be nice if that is even possible.
I need to know so I can talk to my collision guy.

you would need to change more i think because the 4.2 has a face lift also it would not really match up as the rear has wide fenders too

IIRC, the 4.2 is 2" longer in the front than ours. So, it's a lot more to replace.

I figured it was worth a shot since I have to replace both anyways. I guess I'll stick with the regular fenders:(

Since your car is in the body shop, have the shop look up the motor compartment upper frame rail assembly for both vehicles to see if they are the same. This is the part the fender bolts to. If these are the same for the 2.7 and the 4.2, then the fenders will bolt up. The next qestion will be: is the bumper cover the same, since it nests into the fender.

Frame rails are very expensive for manufacturers to change because they require a change to the automated assembly fixturing, as well as new dies, check fixtures, crash tests, corrosion tests, etc. I cannot see Audi making these changes just to stuff in two more cylinders.

Changing the radiator support, since it is a bolt on part, the hood, fenders and bumper parts would make more sense. For a swap, I would bet you would have to get all the above parts to get it to work.
