intermittent blinker
I have a 1999 A6 Quattro and sometimes my right front blinker doesn't operate but the rear blinker still does. When it doesn't work the indicater light blinks faster. After a while though it starts working again. In previous cars a fast indicater meant a burntbulb but the bulb works fine most of the time. Could it be a fuse? Also sometimes my Bose 6-CD sound system doesn't recognize the CD player but the radio still works. Is it possible I have a wiring issue? If so how much for a mechanic to chase it down. Will hooking up to an OBDII help in this pursuit? I'm a newbie to the forum but I like the collegial atmosphere.
I am not sure about the Bose issue, that may be wiring/fuses however I had a similar issue with the blinker.
I have a 1999 A6 Quattro also and my blinker would still work in the front and back however the indicator would blink very quickly seemingly indicating it was out.
Ended up tracing the problem to the blinker housing. If you pop out the blinker bulb it comes out with a grey housing that has 3 metal contacts on it. Seems sometimes they get gunked up with plastic/junk.
All I needed to do was clear them off and all was good as new again.
