Default Intermittent shuddering while cruising...

Hello, I am new to this forum. I have a 2001 a6 2.7t. I bought it with 68,000 miles on it. I got a sick deal on it because it needed a new torque converter and tranny( got it replaced under a warranty I purchased). I now have around 136,000 miles on it. The past few months I have noticed an on and off ( about 4 seconds on , then 4 seconds off) slight shuddering which feels like its coming from the engine, I think, while Im cruising from 70-80 mph, but not while I am accelerating, only steady cruising. I dont think it has anything to do with alignment or balancing since it goes on and off so consistently. I thought maybe I need a tuneup? If someone has any info or suggestions, I would appreciate it...By the way, I searched through all the forum help topics and couldnt find a similar problem/solution.

P.S.,, I had my timing belt, watwerpump, and tensioners done at 97,000 miles.

the only code that came up was one for cat warmup time

ALSO...What are some of the signs of turbo failure?

The shuddering sounds like your torque converter. Still have the warranty?

The most common sign of turbo failure is smoke. Lots and lots of smoke.

the torque converter has only 60,000 miles on it(was replaced with a brand new one) and I had a rebuilt tranny put in..The car shifts gears perfectly though, its only while cruising to the point where I barely have my foot on the gas. Maybe shuddering is the wrong word...Its more like an on and off vibrating (very moderate) and it definitely feels like its coming from the engine.By the way, I still have the original coil packs and plugs in the car. I hope its not the torque converter, because my warranty on it ran out already.

no, not in the gas pedal at all, and I guess you could say its more of a slight vibration, I think I used the wrong word in the original post when I said shudder....I've already had a misfire problem once and this doesnt feel similar, but I guess anythings possible, also It doesnt happen while I have the pedal down when I accelerate...THANKS for the help everyone, any input is much appreciated

I am pretty mechanically inclined, but is changing the plugs something I should not attempt? I heard the gap has to be in tolerance within a 1000th of an inch, I dont know if thats just dealer service BS? I put in a cool air with a flex tube and built my own airbox which completely surrounds the filter(huge power increase for the dough) without ******* anything up, and I've done tuneups on a couple of my own acuras without any problems, but I know these Germans are one of a kind...
