Default Jumpy Idle

I have a 2001 A6 2.8. Since it has gotten warmer here in Texas my idle at stop lights is surging up and down. It does it bad after I have driven, parked the car then come back only a few miutes later. The dealership said to clean out the throttle body which I have done on many other cars. Only problem is I cant get to it on mine. Would getting a cold air setup or insutlating the intake plumbing help? It does get really hot so close to the heat shields for the exhaust. Any help or advice would be great. Thanks again to all you guys on here.

Could this cause your check engine light to come on too? The reason I ask is because I was idling in a parking lot for about 15 minutes when it suddenly got very rough, and the check engine light came on. After I drove about 1/4 mile, the engine smoothed out, and the light stayed on for a couple days, then went away. It's an 03 w/ 2.7 t. Any advice would be appreciated.
