JUST GOT A 01 A6 2.7 T WHAT KIND OF MAINTENANCE SHOULD I PERFORM NOW? THANKYOU

I just purchased a 2001 AUDI A6 2.7 Turbo. It is an amazing car. I love it the only downside is that is has 75,000 miles on it already. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations on what kind of preventative maintence I should perform right now. I want this car to last for many more years to come. I traded in an 2001 Acura CL-S for the Audi and the audi outperforms it in everyway. Also being that my car is a turbo people have been telling me that the turbo might go soon since there are so many miles, is this true and if it is is there a way to prevent it from happening so soon. Well thanks and please post any suggestions.

If it hasn't been done already I would look into getting the timing belt replaced soon. As far as the turbos go, it all depends on how the previous owner treated them. Frequent oil changes (3000 miles or so) should help the turbos last as long as the vehicle does.

Thanks for the help. I will look into the timing belt. Since you have the same car as me do you have any problems or anything else I should be on the lookout for. Also what kind of oil do you recommend. Is there a way to check on the turbo to see if it is in good mechanical shape.
Thanks.

The most troublesome thing on our cars seem to be the throttle body boot. I can develope tears and will cause boost pressure drops. There are several good aftermarket replacements for it as well as a part I am going with called the Bi-Pipe made by APR (www.goapr.com). I personaly use Mobil 1 synthetic 0w40 with either Mahle or Mann (sp?) filters. The only way I know of to really check the turbos out mechanically is to check for shaftplay which requires you to access the intake side of the turbo which is not an easy thing to do on our cars.

Alright thanks for the help I will look into that. How much do they typically cost?

They say it is time for new plugs unless you can diagnose bad plugs because with the platinum plugs they could easily make 120k (wires not needed (and don't listen to anyone who says you do unless your hear a popping from under the hood)), the fuel filter (although it will last eternity) is recommended at 60K, When you replace the timing belt do your water pump and thermostat at the same time (it will save a ton of money) (Shokan.com sells a nice kit for the whole thing if you know how to do it it is ~ 3hours work for the first time opening the timing covers (1 hour for a 3rd time returner (yeah I replaced them one at a time).) Trans flush and Transfer case flush are coming up (usually between 60 and 90) Check belts and hoses and you should be smooth sailing for a while. I posted some other checks for the guy looking to buy a higher mileage Audi, you might look it over and keep an eye out when you hit 120K+

Just got the same car 2 months ago, love it. Only use synthetic oil, saves the turbos
no use worrying over them. if you got the automatic as I have CHANGE THE FLUID NOW!
I did and it was black, the car shifted much better and it actually improved my milage.
I did use Redline D4 ATF but cannot recomed it just yet, working awsome so far but
only time will tell. stay with the Audi recomended fluid. I have 68000 and did change
the plugs, they were worn.
little stuff
check for missing bolts on the sound sheild it will vibrate.
