Just purchased 2003 A6 3.0
 

I just bought a Certified 2003 A6 Quattro 3.0 and I love it. I am a high mileage driver and I want to be able to keep this a long time. What kind of service do I need to do? When I was looking at the service schedule, it says oil change every 10k and then a "real" service every 30k. Do you think this is good?
Also, I'm in Richmond Virginia. Does anyone know of a good independent service place that I can take my car to besides the dealer?

oh yea and the timing belt at around 85-105k miles must be changed

I would re-think the oil change at 10,000 miles. Since you want to keep this thing for a while I would consider switching over to a synthetic depending on how the previous owner treated it. At 38k, well thats kinds high for a switch but depending on a compression check you might be ok. I personally drive like a a bat outta hell with my rides so I change my oil every 3k-5k miles religiously. I know the manual says blah blah blah, but that is bare minimum stuff. As far as where to take it for things other than periodic services I would suggest to learn how to do basic maintenace on your own so you know the basics. Changing oil is cake and shouldnt be entrusted to some foreign tech with broken english or worse a pimply kid who doesnt know a washer from a seal. Just my opinion of course
