Default Key Fob

My key fob works only if I am right next to the door and only after pressing the button (unlock or lock) repeatedly...yes, I have put a new battery in the thing.

I have searched and read the few attempts at explaining how to re-program the key fob. But nothing was very clear.

Can any of you help?

The range of the key is defined mainly by the battery.
Perhaps the new battery is not good.
Reprogramming the remote is described in your booklete(Users manual).
Also do a search here as the topic is wide discussed.

Thanks...had already searched like crazy. Found some instructions that left more questions than they answered.

Yeah...taking it by a stealer to get it done/fixed.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Do you have the Advanced Key feature? It is a push button start and the doors unlock as you approach without the need to push the button on the FOB.

There is a writeup somewhere that details how to reroute/extend the receiving antenna to increase the cars remote range. I have found that my original (00) remote does not work nearly as well as my newer remote I bought a year or so ago. Changing the batteries does not make much of a difference.

I suggest looking into relocating the antenna in the car. IIRC in the sedans, it is under the rear seat.
