Key stuck in Ignition

Key stuck in Ignition
Car will not start. I have a 2005 Audi A6, keyless entry. I can't pull the transmission to anywhere other than park, push-button start does not work and while the key does turn, nothing happens. There are various warning indicators illuminated in the dash, so the battery is not dead. None of the elctronic controls work. car is dead. It's Saturday, nobody at the dealer service area.
Also, the reason I went out to the car was that the parking lights had been left on, I opened the door to turn them off, and the alarm went off....not sure what to do, I put the key in and blammo, dead car. Was the car thinking that it was being stolen and shut itself down or something ? Of course my manual is locked in the glovebox and I can't get at it.
Help please !

Take a look in the ignition section of the TSB library I set up with a fellow forum member.
