Default Lag Time w/ 4.2L Quattro

I have been experiencing some lag in acceleration with my 2001 4.2L Quattro. Any ideas?

I'm not familar with A6..but it might be the DBW/ECU.....The S4 has a .4 sec lag in acceleration that is part of how the drive by wire and ecu interpert and react to full throttle acceleration. This may be a 'feature' that is on more than one Audi model.

There is a little pause in the acceleration. If I just tap on the gas, it really feels like its going to take off but if I put the pedal to the floor, it just chugs a little bit and not as fast as I would expect from such a larg engine?

That is exactly what I get on my car...and that is the DBW/ECU. It is normal behavior....
