LATCH system on 2002??
My son was born on Monday and we'll be leaving the hospital today. I went out to the A6 to install the car seat last night and was sure it had the LATCH system b/c I saw the Tethers in the rear windowsill area, but can't find the Lower Anchors. Does it not have them? I know LATCH was mandatory in 2003, but find it odd to have one part of the system but not the other. Anyone know for sure?? Thanks!!
Congratulations on the Kid.
I don't know about the bottom anchors because our 1997 Avant only used the seatbelts. The trick was to get the retractors to lock and tightly hold the seat in place. There was also a clip (looked like a sytylish I) that was used to help keep the belt locked. I rigged a top strap around the second and third set back for the top.

Congratulations! I had my kid about 2 years ago and went through the same shinanigan. Audi used to retrofit for free, but not anymore. But no fret! You can buy one for about $10 plus shipping each. Go here...

If you want both sides, or want to have the child seat in the middle, then you need 2. Just lift the rear seat hard and you will notice pieces of tape covering the holes towards the rear of the seat. Just peel back the tape and you are good to go. You will need triple square bit for the bolts.
FYI, when you lift the seat, you will probably break a couple of plastic clips holding the seat. Don't worry as long as you have one (there are a total of 4) your seat will be fine.
Hope you get some sleep.
