Left taillamp assembly connectors melted on '05 a6 3.2
Ok, so I've had this problem 3 times in less than 2 years of ownership. My left rear taillight, left rear reversing light and left rear fog light are out again. The dealer said the connectors were melted but wouldnt tell me why back in Dec 08. They failed again summer 09 and are now out again.
They now say the car has too much electrical current running to the taillight wiring and that is melting the connection to the rear assembly but refuse to fix since it has been over a year since last being replaced. This is such B.S. Anyone else have this problem or know what is going on? Independent shops refuse to fix it it because they said the wiring is faulty and wont be held responsible.
Thanks

Jaguar XK8's have this problem, the ground is too small to handle all the consumers at once and the lugs melt. Add a ground wire to the main ground plate and bolt it to teh body. The guy that designed this was probably right out of school and the boss thought he couldn't screw that up!
