Hi, so i asked the mechanic to replace the tranny fluid, and he recommended that I dont. He said that I can flush the fluid, but it could make the problem worse. What do you think I should do?

Well first and foremost you need to go to another mechanic. Find an Indy audi mechanic cause yes it's not recommended over 100k but if there is no issues with the tranny then it is ok to do. I mean slipping hard shift. Actuall mechanical issues. But I wouldnt swap the fluid till I fix the range sensor

Is the car supposed to shift nOrmally even if it is in fail safe, meaning that it shifts right from 3rd to 4rth? The car doesn't shift unless I ease acceleration, by letting off a bit on the gas pedal

Where is the TRS located on a 3.0 CVT? I am confused is it attached to (1) the transmission housing unit OR (2) located underneath the shifter?

Nope, always follow your Manufactures SPECS. 50 to 60 thousand miles But a really hi mile transmission can give it's last gasp after a service. My dad always called it the crude was all that way keeping it together, in other words the consistency and also the grit that is inside the tranny is all that is left inside of the working clutch surfaces and when that is cleaned you also takeaway it's crutch, the grit. I have seen this phenomena in mostly transmissions that have high mileage that have never been serviced. There are AT out there that hardly need servicing, like I had on my 2006 Ford Explorer XLT all wheel drive. My 1st service for that one was 150,000 and had no dipstick. a lot of newer AT's require fewer services intervals .
