Hi all!

Recently bought a 1999 2.5tdi V6 A6 and ive noticed a strange problem, when accelerating in 4th and 5th gear and i hit around 2000/2100rpm, the boost goes.

The revs don't drop, however the speed does, when the revs (painfully slowly) get to about 2300rpm, whammo, the boost kicks back in and were off!

It's very annoying for motorway driving!

Is this a common fault or does anyone have any idea what to check?

I have read that the turbo uses thrust bearings.. check those out.. I hear they go at high mileage, and a lot of petal to metal use. something about the stock turbo is set for more low/midrange power.. i could be wrong though. check outHybrid Turbos fitting and performance gains that might give some insight. if that's not it. It could be your DV is going.
