Angry Lower Oil Pan Gasket?

Replacing the lower oil pan and I can't find a part or part # for a lower oil pan gasket. Part stores don't have a spec for it when checking and some online places pair the oil pan with an RTV Sealant.

Is that right? Just an RTV Sealant? No Gasket?

I just used red RTV sealant on mine & it's held up well. No gasket. Just be sure to get all contact surfaces clean & free of oil before installing. AND don't overdo it on the amount of RTV. When surfaces squeeze together the RTV oozes out the sides, and you want to minimize getting any squeezing out on the inside, where it may break free & clog engine oil passages. Follow directions for letting RTV set up before fully tightening bolts.

What CRuby said. No one sells the gasket that I know of. Use RTV.

I ran into the same problem back when I did my 2002 A6. I used red first but it leaked after a few weeks - maybe I didn't apply it right or didn't clean right. One the 2nd attempt I used ultra grey and that hasn't leaked since
