Maintenance, 100k car?

Maintenance, 100k car?
So im in the market for a new car recently. Pushing about a 7ish grand limit. See plenty of Audi A6 with 70-110k miles for that price. Specifically im looking at the 4.2 or 2.7t as i want something with atleast a little vroom factor. With what I've read im rather scared of the 2.7t, with the cost of turbo replacement being near as much as the cars worth. Id junk it first... Unfortunate becuase they sounds beast with a little work.
So what im looking for is a realistic opinion on how much these cars cost to maintain? How dependable is it really as a sole mode of transportation? Would you consider a car with that high miles? How far would it probably have left? Id like a solid 3-4 years out of it.
Opinion, thoughts, reservations welcome.
Thanks

The A6 will not give "3-4 years solid use" without a ton of maintenance. They are for experienced DIYers. The turbos aren't the issue, the cumulative total of everything else is. And, then you have the transmissions....
But, if your heart is set on one, try to find one for $5,000 and keep 2 grand in the bank for maintenance/repairs.
Good luck,
Bob

At 100k miles, you will spend $$$ on an audi. Normal maintanence will call for a timing belt which is $1300-$1500. The Germans over-engineer their cars. Don't get me wrong, I love them and own two older A6's but at 100k miles and over but it is mind bogling how many things can go wrong from sensors to control modules and a host of other mechanical issues. My advise is if you go down this path, find a good tech who will do work on the side because it can get expensive.

It happens. Cheer up you'll own the best someday used engines and used transmissions
