I own a 2007 A6 and I have the old version of the MMI software. I am looking for an economical (read: free, or nearly free) way to upgrade to the newest version. My version is 2740 (I think). I have searched this and nearly every audi forum I could find but no luck. Also, do I need to upgrade to each version individually, or can I go straight to the newest?
Please help me!

 

You need to do the update in two steps. See this link:

You can purchase the upgrade CD's for about $7 each from genuinevwaudiparts.com. The only other thing you will need is a battery charger and a couple of hours of free time.

 

Thanks for the info. Do the CDs go in the changer in the glovebox, or the DVD player (Nav) in the trunk? Also, it warns about screwing this up on the link you gave me. Is it easy to do? Just one disk at a time (in order) I assume?

 

They go in the changer in the glove box. One disk at a time in slot 1. If you follow the instructions it will go smoothly.
