Mobile 1 Oil Filter Model Number for 2.7T
I've searched on here and not once did anyone mention a brand or model number of the oil filter they use. I'm going to be doing my first oil change this weekend and I like to shop ahead of time. I'm going to use Mobil 1 5W30 (if I can find it) and I'm a little **** about using the same brands of things. The only oil filter I could find was by Purolator. On my way to the counter I saw some Mobil 1 oil filters. I looked in the handy book and to my surprise (not really) they didn't have one listed for the A6 2.7T. They have the A4 1.8t, 2.8and theRS6. I don't even recall seeing the 3.0. Anyway, I pulled out the Purolator and compared it to the M1-204. They look identical. Also, the M1-204 was not listed in the book under our cars. So my deductive reasoning said "Ifthe 2.7Tisn't listed in the book, and this filter isn't listed in the book for use on any other Audi, and it looks identical to the one that is made for our cars, it should be the right one....right?

Just use an OEM one from the dealer or get a NAPA gold one. They are OEM quality and many people say they may even be better. That's what I used on my last change.

I use the M1-204. I go with the extended performance model for about $10. I use the extended performance oil too. It's suppose to be good for 15K. I change it at about 7K. That oil will go 6 or 7K before it starts to darken. Good stuff. Good luck.

NAPA Gold filters all the way. They are made by WIX and you would be hard pressed to find a better filter no matter what you spend. You can get them from fleetfilter.com for $4 and change. Buy several - well worth it. If you are in a pinch and need one quick any NAPA will have them but expect to pay around $7-8. You could also buy a straight WIX since it is the same exact filter with different paint.
Don't take my word for it though....do some research in the filters section of BITOG (Bob is the oil guy) and make up your own mind.

Cmoney - Thanks. Glad to hear from someone that actually uses it. Don't think my mind would let me go 15k before I changed it. But I'd be willing to go 7k considering it's about to get cold in these parts and I know I have a horrible track record of changing my oil when it's cold. 7k should get me through till spring...lol
