I don't know how your map light cover looks like, but this may give you an idea.
Here's the motor:

I have a 99 A6. I pushed up on the **** to tilt the sunroof, but it slid open all the way instead and would not close. The emergency wrench is on the fuse cover. (It tells you this in the owners manual and also has a picture about how to close it with the wrench) Later I took the light and pot assembly down but the pot doesn't come apart. I sprayed WD-40 in the holes of the pot and moved the **** through the positions a few times. I put it back in the car, but still no luck getting the sunroof to move. I then pulled the plug part way off the motor and put SD-40 on the contacts then pushed it back in. Now the sunroof works great. WD-40 is great for making contacts and pots work effectively. I've used it many times on old tv and radio volume *****.
