that's sexy, the avants are amazing, katcoota, i envy you and your avant. but i have to bring a question, the 05 allroad has the option of the 4.2, whats the major difs between the s6 w/4.2 and allroad w/4.2? i like the ride adjust for the allroad

 

ok, I'm getting this from memory, so some of the precise details might not be quite right.

My S6 is a 2001 model and the 4.2 is tuned to 340 hp in this vehicle, rather than the standard 300 hp in other A6 4.2s. It is the same engine also in the S8 but that one is tuned to 360 hp.

The C5 allroad had the 300 hp engine, but the latest C6 allroad uses is now tuned to 337 hp.Same as the C6 A6... I've got far too many number in these paragraphs.

The different engine output is not just a chip tune. The S6 also has a completely different exhaust system than the standard A6.

The S6 also has a slightly different suspension setup. Basically more sporty. I think there are also differences in the brakes. Again, I'm comparing my 2001 S6 to a 2001 allroad. Not sure about the C6, but again there are other suspension differences not just the ride height.

As the S6was not an option in the US, the best place to get more info on the differences would have to be a German website.
