Default My 2004 A6 smoky on startup

Hi all,
I'm a newby, I have owned my A6 for a year now and love it!
Recently, it starts very rough and after 10-15 seconds, white smoky steamy vapours pour out of the exhausts. this continues until the choke kicks out then all good.
My thoughts are a failed ignition coil or spark plug, well this is what I hope!
Any thoughts on what it could be? I do fear the worst!
Cheers
Simon

sounds like coolant leaking into the oil. Has it ever over heated?

Pull your dip stick out and look at the oil, does it show any signs of white goo on it? Also look in your coolant resivour to see if there is oil in there

Dark smoke is oil. You did not mention engine, but my 2.7T always blew white vapor for a while on cold mornings until it warmed up. It was just normal condensation.
