My Timing belt broke.....
I just replaced my belt now here's what I did. The problem is a 2003 A6 2.7t with 108,000 miles on her.
I replaced the TB pulley's and the belt. When the belt broke the car was at idle and there was no strange noises when it happend it just shut off. I made sure the cams were in the correct position, and the engine was at TDC. I replaced the parts as indicated above. I rotated the engine with a wrench a few times everything sounded great. no wierd noises, so I tried starting it up, everything sounded normal with the exception of it not starting. IT WILL NOT START NOW!!! but it turns over great. I made sure all connections are hooked up the way they were before I started. What am I missing? I have to have my car back on the road, because my wife has my other car going to and from college. |
I'm Confused....Did your belt break first and then you performed the TB job or did you peform the TB job and then had the belt break afterwards?

The belt broke (while the engine was at idle) due to the idler rollers failing. I then replaced the belt and rollers. It turns over fine, it has fire, and fuel, the cams and crank alignment are right on the mark.
