Default Need help with tie rods

Ive got a 01 a6 2.7 and im trying to change my outer tie rod but its rusted and i can break it free...can anybody help me on how to take off the inner tie rod as well so that i can just change them both...Is there an easy way to take off that boot and not destroy it so that i can get to that inner tie rod? Thanks

Go over to AudiWorld and search. There is a DIY that will show you how to do it. The inners are not easy, mostly due to the very limited access. I HAVE done them, but I can't remember how I got to the inner boot clamp to get it off. I DO remember replacing it with a hose clamp and cranking for a long time to get it tight!

Use heat to remove the old tie rod outer.

well i got it all sorted out...but now i need help with somethng else...whenever i go over bumps my car squeaks in the driver side wheel well...kinda sounds like rubber....is my strut going bad or just a mount and how do i get the spring perch off?
