need input

I have an 02 A6 2.7T with automatictransmission. Car has 35k on it. Here is the problem.
-It doesn't matter what gear I am in or what rpm range I am at; If I take my foot completely off the gas pedal and then punch it, it's just a lot of rev and a little go. It behaves normal, going through all the gears if I stay on it, but just doesn't tug.
-Now, ifI ease into it and punch it takes off like a rocket through all the gears. Again, it doesn't matter what gear or what rpm range.
I can pretty much duplicate eitherscenarioat will.
It's as if the turbos aren't working and I pretty sure that I can hear them.
Added information: The car has a brand new transmission. It was behaving similiar prior to the new install. I also have recently flashed the ecu with apr.
I don't have alot of faith in the dealer either. This was the fourth time it was in for the transmission beforethey identifiedthe problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Although you have an automatic, it sounds awful similar to my MT6 when the clutch was slipping. Any hard acceleration would result in the engine revs spooling up quickly with no accompanyingacceleration. The rpm needle would fly to the redline (and beyond, on a couple occasions). If I accelerated more gently, it would not slip as much. Of coure, it was getting progressively worse so I had it replaced.

The fact that the engine is making "a lot of rev" tells me that your turbos are working, but the power is not getting to the wheels. What's in the middle - the transmission. I think the power from your chipped engine is overwhelming your torque converter.

This behavior preceeded the flashand the new transmission. It's actually why I took it in to the dealership. They replaced the transmission and the issue reamains. I'm lost.

tell the dealer that it's the Torque Convertor that needs replacement, not the tranny. I make you a bet the dealership replaced the transmission but kept the originall TC in there. Alot of people don't realize when replacing a tranny the TC needs to be replaced as well.

Nice, thats what I needed. I'm not real hip,to the transmission or torque converters. Thanks, this is a good start.

would a bad torque converter cause the occasionly pop or jolt?

My torque convertor was broken and i had it replaced but i dont think it works right still. Basically, i took it too the dealership and got them to replace it, than the sent me a bill for about 3000...which sucked. I am taking it back soon because it doesn't appear to be working.
