Default New Tires (245/40/18) 2005 A6

I currently have Michelin MXM4s on the car and like them, these were put on by the dealership to replace the ConitProContacts that came with the car, because they were supposedly defective. I am thinking about going back to the ContiProContacts mostly because of price (they are $100 less per tire). Can anyone recommend other tires or have they used the Continentals and been happy? Thanks!

Play the Tire Rack game and see what it says..

I personally use Yoko AVIDs on my vehicles because they are a great all around tire. the tire snobs usually suggest special winter and summer tires but I have never had a problem with my Quattro in any weather.

See signature. Drive Pirelli's in the winter and Conti's in the summer. I did have Coopers and they were terrible and I had Discount Tire replace them with the Conti's.

Mileage (wear) on both sets have been good, and I rotate them regularly -- every 5-6k.

Goodyear D3s in summer and Dunlop M3s in winter.

I had Kuhmo's on first. Tried Nitto's....going back to Kuhmo for sure. But, I live in SoCal. I just "stick" to the extra stickies. No snow down here.

You will not beat Conti contacts for the price, a all around good tire. I think the knock on the Conti is that the sidewalls are very soft and can be damage easily.
