Default Newbie w/ Motor n Tranny Probs '99 A6 Quattro

I need HELP!! Bought the car w/ bad tranny. Bought a '98 quattro for good tranny. had a back yard shop replace. Now the tranny slipping n motor skipping. Not sure now if tranny codes matched?? Dnt have access to '98 parts car any longer. Guess first thing is check fluid level right? As for motor... idles (barely) but very low rpm. Press on accel. it sputters but climbs all the way thru. Have check engine light on but havent scanned yet. Hopefully tomorrow can get that done. Plz any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also.... have 98 vin# if that can be decoded for tranny code??not sure.

Default Update....

I have a gang of codes. Scanned with generic scanner...
P1545
P0301
,P1237-1242
P0722
P1426 had intake box undone with maf still connected
P1432

Anyone have any suggestions where to start? Started with new plugs because they were shot. What next?

P0301 - it could be Cylinder 1's coil, or bad spark plug - that's a misfire code
P0722 - it may be related to a Transmission Range sensor circuit - you can check if all the power connectors on the tranny are plugged properly
P1237-1242 - All the injectors "Open Circuits"
P1426 Tank Ventilation Valve - Open Circuit A
P1432- It may have something to do with the secondary air injection valve
---------------------------------------

It sounds like you have a whole range of ELECTRICAL problems.
Did they connect properly all the grounds?
