Default OEM v Specialist Parts

Hi everyone,

What parts do you use, OEM or some specialist parts company? [sm=dontgetit.gif]

On my previous vehicle, I went with the specialists as much as I could. Everything from Oil filter to Tires.

For my vehicle (2001 S6, 4.2 6SMT), Ihave to decide which to go with. Timing belt has been done, but I am asking your opinions regarding servicing parts such:

1) Oil filter
2) Spark plugs
3) Plug wires
4) Brake pads
5) Rotors
6) Fuel filters
7) Pollen filter
etc...

Which make would you go with and why? [sm=thanx.gif]

Default RE: OEM v Specialist Parts

1) Oil filter - Bosch Oil Filter -
2) Spark plugs - Bosch or NGK
3) Plug wires - OEM
4) Brake pads - Aftermarket
5) Rotors - Aftermarket - Cross Drilled or Slotted
6) Fuel filters - Bosch
7) Pollen filter - Anything available

My opinion is based on staying as close as you can to OEM parts but sometimes you want to updagrade based on performance mods. Rotors are obvious, compare a stock rotor to a drill or slotted rotor, no competion. Drilled and slotted give you a better stopping distance in the rain and snow(they don't heat up as much as stock rotors). Pads should be after market if upgrading rotors unless staying with stock rotors. Fuel filter, you should sty close to stock so the car doesn't throw off you MPG or any codes. Bosch parts are meant for most european cars or german designed cars. Pollen filter is up to you, what ever is available since this only filters the air coming into the cabin of you car(Pollen, gas fumes, dust, and so on).
