Default oil leak

hello i have an 04 A6 3.0 with 170k
recently my low oil light came on, so i checked and it was almost dry, so i filled it back up. about a month later it comes back on, almost dry again. no signs of a leak and no change in engine performance. so my question is, where am i losing that much oil and not noticing it?

That's a lot of oil being lost at an alarming rate.

I would suspect the oil to be burning off within the combustion chambers but with that amount, are you noticing any smoke out of the tail pipes? Any unusual smells coming from the engine bay while idling?

i do sometimes notice blue smoke out the tailpipe upon startup, but goes away rather quickly so i have not been very concerned about it. as far as odors, none at any time, and as i stated no change in the way its been running
