Hey, I have been changing my own oil the last 4 times in my car. I have not had any problems yet changing the oil myself until this time, 2 days ago i switched my oil from 5w to 10w, i use mobil 1 full synthetic. For some reason occasionally my oil does not settle correctly sometimes and my check oil light comes on now and says i have low oil level, and I will pull over to a level surface and check my oil and it will be so low its not even on my dipstick... I added the 1/4 quart of oil that i had and drove to my house, checked my oil on another level surface and it read OVER filled, like I just added 1/4 quart of oil on top of an already filled car... I've been checking it periodically before i drive it, during and after, i understand that when its hot its going to read differently than when its cold, but its not suppose to get so low its not even on the dipstick because i drove it a little bit. Its just been sometimes reading overfilled, sometimes not even on the dipstick, and sometimes it reads normal level, I'm not sure if the oil is getting stuck somewhere in the engine, i'm not to familiar with the inside of the engine where the oil travels through... I will monitor this thread and answer any questions to the best of my ability, thankyou all for your time and help!
